Kenneth G. Gibbs Doctoral Fellowship in Astronomy and Astrophysics

KENNETH G. GIBBS DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN ASTRONOMY AND ASTROPHYSICS has been established at the University of Arizona Foundation. This scholarship is intended to support graduate students in the Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory pursuing a promising line of research in astronomy or astrophysics.

Dr. Gibbs earned a Ph.D. in 1987 from the Department of Physics at the University of Arizona.  He developed a technique that advanced the study of very high energy gamma ray astronomy.

As project manager on several experiments, Ken was a strong supporter of the graduate students with whom he worked. He took care to ensure that students were treated well, and that they never forgot the importance of having a healthy life balance. It is for this reason that his wife Lynnette Wood established this fund.
